Founder and President of the Stagg Group

Mark Stagg started in the mortgage industry in 1991. Beginning with a single lead from an attorney and friend, he quickly learned about the mortgage needs of the residents in the Northeast Bronx and in a few years built a hugely successful mortgage business based on the lending opportunities he developed in the neighborhood. His reputation grew rapidly based on a simple premise: he gave his customers great service, solid mortgage advice, and treated them with respect and dignity.

Mark built his first property in 1998, when an opportunity to buy a vacant lot in the neighborhood came along. To date he has built over 1000 units of affordable housing. Today, the Stagg Group is responsible for the development of over 1.2 million square feet of real estate construction in the Northeast Bronx, with a portfolio value exceeding $150 million in real estate development. Mr. Stagg’s mission is to provide practical and quality affordable housing on a timely basis, utilizing state-of-the-art building techniques and practices. The Stagg Group stresses high-quality, brick construction, designed to blend into the existing community architecture.

Today, Mr. Stagg presides over the Stagg Group (comprised of three divisions, Stagg Development, Stagg Construction and Stagg Management) operating 500 occupied units (all owned, built and managed by Mr. Stagg in the past 10 years) with plans to increase the number of units to 1000 in the near future. Mr. Stagg has made a concentrated effort to create much needed affordable housing in the Bronx with plans to expand into the other boroughs of New York as well as Westchester County. He has completed projects in conjunction with HPD and other New York City agencies and continues to build affordable housing and grow his own rental portfolio.

Mr. Stagg was born and raised in White Plains, New York and is active in youth sports of all kinds including baseball, golf, and football. His local charitable interests include the fight against Juvenile Diabetes and the YMCA. He lives in Westchester County with his wife and five children.

Mark Stagg credits his mother for the inspiration that has given him his exceptional drive, work ethic and vision.
